First week

First Week
This experience is a very valuable one that can go in a country, through a program organized
by SEAMEO with SEA-Teachers for Student Education Pre-Service Training. This program places us
in a school called the University of St Paul Surigao (SPUS) which has an
address in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, Philippines.
I am not alone, but I am both with Sandy Kurniawan. We are both Representatives from Majalengka
University, West Java, Indonesia. Majalengka University sent 5 of its best students and students to thi
s extraordinary event and incidentally also from the five representatives I was a woman myself.
However, that did not dampen my enthusiasm for joining this program.

On January 14, 2019 I was ready to depart from Soekarno Hatta Airport, I left for Philips using the
Malaysia airline, with a departure time of 12:15 WIB and will arrive at KL (Transit) at 15:20 WIB.
Thank God, the first flight of my life hehehe, walked safely and smoothly. The three of us will
do 3 flights. I have to wait until 5:35 p.m. (Local time) to take the second flight to Manila
to arrive at Manila at 9:20 p.m. And we arrived at Manila airport safely and had to wait tomorrow
to continue the journey again by flying from Manila to Butuan.
At 1:00 p.m. we arrived in Butuan and we were picked up by the coordinator there.
It was known at that time that our group had increased by 2 people but the woman finally at
this philippine Sandy became his own man, they were both from Universita Padang State merka
from the Extraordinary Education study program.
The seven of us were picked up from the airport and will head to Surigao city
where our campus is located. The trip was taken in 3 hours to get to Surigao city from Manila,
before we traveled far and long too. We ate lunch at a ready-to-eat place like KFC, but here it is called
Jollibee (it turns out that it is quite difficult to find halal food because Muslim communities are
a minority, so processed pork is everywhere and is very easy to find). After we are full,
we are ready to take a trip to Surigao city. It turned out that the atmosphere was very similar
in Indonesia precisely like the city of Bogor. The road, the view of the mountains and hills,
rice fields and there are still a lot of pokemon very similar.
After a long and long trip too, we arrived at the place where we will stay,
we placed a kind of special room for guests. Containing: bed, dining room, tv room, bathroom,
2 bedrooms, each room containing 3-4 beds of mattresses, cupboards for each participant,
refrigerator, etc. (the point is that I look like a three-star hotel) heheheh) it's quite comfortable.
ohh yes, this room is only for women, the sandy is far from where women are and even different
buildings and quite far away. I am rooming with students from UHAMKA and UNP, I think the room
is quite comfortable (air conditioned) hehehe.
The activity after clearing the items brought into the room is that we have dinner in the school
canteen, the school canteen is quite comfortable. Next, we will divide the schedule of activities for
tomorrow and activities for the next one month from the coordinator. After that, we go back to
the room and take a break to prepare some things that must be prepared for tomorrow.

On January 17, 2019 activities began at 09:30 the activity was a kind of introduction to campus

staff activities, then we did a group photo too, lunch and continued at 2:00 pm I did class
observations. I was placed in a junior high school and in the 10th grade, because it is here for
4 years and the school has over 2 years. And it turned out that the teacher who was required to
accompany him was apparently unable to attend for 2 days because of that during the classroom
observation I was accompanied by a substitute teacher namely the chemistry teacher.
on the first day of class observations my first day in class 9, I entered 3 different classes.
first impressions because for the first time, it might still be rather strange to enter a new
classroom atmosphere and very different from the atmosphere in Indonesia, and the facilities
are very adequate there are 2 kinds of blackboards, some use markers and chalk, there are also
large tv facilities to display learning media such as PPT, videos, images etc., the class is equipped
with 4 fans, the class is quite comfortable. And I really like their very friendly attitude with new
people, my first class observation was finished at 4:00 p.m. and I was welcome to take a break and
return to the rest area. I then prayed and wrote a blog about today's activities that I did. Then we do
dinner together in the dorm (they name the place we sleep). And then we take a break in each room.
I was told by the coordinator to take part in the ceremony tomorrow at 7:45. It is known here that
the ceremony is carried out every day but not a ceremony like in Indonesia but only a kind of apples
and in just 15 minutes because 8 o'clock is the hour the first subject begins.

  January 18, 2019
Today is the second observation day I get ready and have breakfast first because it
has been prepared by the committee, I took part in a ceremony which was told yesterday
after the ceremony was over, then we were placed in junior high school in general introduced in in
front of all junior high school students, I was first placed in high school with 2 other people,
namely sandy and poy diaa from Thailand and I was again accompanied by a chemistry teacher
yesterday because his biology teacher was still unable to attend. Then I went back to a new class
and introduced myself, today there are activities that are not learning or giving material but daily
repetition activities. So, learning is 30 minutes faster or in just one hour. I entered a new class today
with 4 classes and all of them only did daily tests so they finished faster. The class observation
activity was finished at 1:00 p.m. and it was finished that there were no more classroom observations
and I was welcome to rest again and return to the dorm.
And I fill my time by taking a break and filling out today's blog.
as usual the dinner is also provided by the committee and delivered to the dorm. and at 17:00 we
do a meeting with the participant coordinator to discuss the activities that we will do tomorrow.

On January 19, 2019
On this day according to the calendar of activities given yesterday, it turns out that
day activities are a tour in the city of Butuan: we will do it by visiting the museum,
robinson's mall, mosques and Buddhist temples. we are picked up by using the car that we used
when we first picked up from the airport. we were picked up at 7:00 by the driver, coordinator and
2 buddies whose names were Anne and Marc they both also took part in our pick-up
time from Banadara. The journey begins, our journey from the city of Surigao to the city of
Butuan for 3 hours by car. It turns out the atmosphere is very cool, views of hills, rice fields,
plantations, lots of coconut trees here. However, because of the departure time the sky had
begun to cloud and on the way it finally rained too. At 10:30 we arrived at the first museum,
namely the Butuan National Museum. this museum is about the history of the formation of the
city of Butuan, heritage artifacts, tools used in ancient times in the city of Butuan, and there is a
gallery of paintings that are very much like the collection and the paintings are also very beautiful
and amazing. we are also accompanied by a tour from the museum. After finishing visiting everything
before we leave the museum we are required to fill out a piece of assessment paper that is intended
to evaluate the facilities and services in this museum. After we have finished visiting the museum,
we then have lunch first and have been prepared by the coordinator, after lunch we then continue
the visit to the second museum, namely the name of the museum is Butuan Archaeoogical park,
this season contains fossil boats used by the people in the old days, we were also accompanied by
the one who explained it.After completing a visit to the second museum, we then go to the mosque
to pray, and tell that there are also Muslims here (because the majority of religions here
are non-Muslim religions), there are quite a lot of Muslim communities here.
After completing the prayer, we continue the journey to Robinson's mall and we are only given
2 hours to visit the mall, me and my roommate and Sandy first came in to visit the shoe store
which is again a big discount, hehehe the name is also a girl can't see a little discount
After looking around, we finally bought one of the shoes too, then we saw the event held by the mall,
like a very spectacular dance performance. Next, we buy food that is food street and try one of the
food there, the first one is dumplings, in my opinion the dumplings are just as rich in Indonesia,
the ingredients are different, but I think it's delicious and I like it too. after the allotted time is up,
we all go back to the car and travel home. And take 3 hours to get to the city of Surigao, the weather
is raining again when we go home.
